Tai Freire é diretora, artista visual e fotógrafa. Formada em Comunicação Social com habilitação em Cinema pela FAAP, desenvolve sua pesquisa na intersecção entre imaginário social, memória e contrastes.
Tem na imagem fotográfica seu principal campo de investigação. Seu trabalho parte dos detalhes do cotidiano, aparentemente banais, para construir imagens que transitam entre documento e ficção. Interessa-se pelo que permanece inscrito nas coisas: os rastros do tempo, os deslocamentos da memória e os significados que emergem quando o real encontra o imaginário.
Sua produção é marcada pela construção de atmosferas. Cada obra condensa uma narrativa por meio da ressignificação de símbolos, aproximando-se da linguagem cinematográfica sem abandonar a potência da imagem fixa. Através da luz, da cor e da composição, cria tensões entre intimidade e estranhamento, familiaridade e mistério, transformando cenas ordinárias em espaços simbólicos. No cinema, desenvolve narrativas de suspense como forma de investigar o mundo interior e questionar os papéis historicamente impostos ao feminino/masculino.
Seu percurso atravessa os departamentos de fotografia, direção e montagem, experiência que influencia diretamente sua forma de construir imagens. Atua principalmente com fotografia de moda e retratos, além de dirigir projetos autorais, desenvolvendo um olhar voltado para a presença humana, os espaços cotidianos e as narrativas visuais.

Tai Freire is a film director, visual artist, and photographer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Film from FAAP. Her practice explores the intersection of the social imaginary, memory, and visual contrast.
Photography is the primary medium of her practice. Drawing from seemingly ordinary moments of everyday life, she creates images that inhabit the space between documentary and fiction. She is interested in what lingers within people, objects, and places: traces of time, the displacements of memory, and the meanings that emerge where reality meets imagination.
Her work is defined by the construction of atmosphere. Each piece condenses a narrative through the reinterpretation of symbols, drawing from cinematic language while embracing the unique potential of the still image. Through light, color, and composition, she creates tensions between intimacy and estrangement, familiarity and mystery, transforming ordinary scenes into symbolic spaces. In cinema, she develops suspense-driven narratives as a way of investigating the inner world and questioning the roles historically imposed on femininity and masculinity.
Her professional background spans photography, directing, and editing—experiences that directly inform the way she constructs images. She works primarily in fashion photography and portraiture while also directing authorial film projects, developing a visual language centered on human presence, everyday spaces, and visual storytelling.
